Everyone is so excited about the new 2017 GMC Acadia. But to me it looks just like the 2010 Dodge Durango? WTH

Its true, they are both black mid sized SUVs...

Ah, so they’ve moved on from “early 2000s Expedition”.

Yes but this Durango is “Professional Grade”.

Who do you mean by “everyone” ?
![]() 01/14/2016 at 12:26 |

The old Acadia is an unmitigated piece of shit, so I hope the new one doesn’t share too much with it.

It’s not what it looks like, it’s that it’s smaller. Looking for one of these right now, my wife had the cutoff of “if it’s bigger than a minivan, fuck it, get the minivan”. That eliminates the current version of this, the Durango, the Chevy equinox, Ford flex, Mazda cx9. The decrease in size makes it a reasonable alternative to a minivan, not just another “i don’t want to be seen in a minivan, let me but something that is simultaneously bigger and less useful”. We’ll still get the pilot anyway, but it makes it more appealing to a lot of people.

No.
Stop this shit.
grille = completely different
headlights = completely different
window line = completely different
side body shape = completely different
if you can’t find those distinctions you don’t look at cars enough.
4 door mid-size SUV’s all have the same basic shape, that’s why they can be classified into a mid-size SUV category.
news flash, 4 door sedans also have a hood, 4 doors and a trunk.

Holy shit, I didn’t realize the 3rd gen started in 2010.

They look pretty different to me.

Actually I believe the Durango is skinnier than a mini-van. If you have a tight garage it could be worth the couple inches.

yes those small things are completely different obviously...but we are 7 years post-Durango and this is the best GMC could come up with?

You’re absolutely right.
This mixed with the fact that it’s now the same size as the Explorer makes me glad we didn’t wait to buy our 2015 Acadia. It’s a great SUV and family hauler. We picked it over the Explorer due to its size, particularly width, and seating position.

I know what you’re trying to get at - the front is flattened/squared-off (which you can say about most new cars, actually).
Other than that, no, they don't look the same at all.

yes because it DOESN’T LOOK LIKE A DURANGO
Also, first model year of current generation Durango is 2011 and it still looks better than most other SUV’s in it’s category

but it has Jeep fenders.

Round wheel wells, GMC has square-ish
![]() 01/14/2016 at 16:29 |

Completely different window line.

Squarer smaller headlights, GMC has elongated lights.
